Strong Women.By empowering women to be all that they can be, and providing them with the professional skills and opportunities they need to be successful, we ensure the success and wellbeing of our communities.
100% Give Back.Every dollar and every hour counts, that’s why 100% of every donated dollar and hour goes directly towards increasing resources and opportunities for women and girls in the greater Des Moines area.
Our HistoryAfter years of encouraging Des Moines-area women to create a women’s foundation, Louise Rosenfield Noun, called together her friends, Senator Elaine Szymoniak and Attorney Barbara Barrett, to establish the Chrysalis Foundation in 1989.
Over the next decade, we expanded our board, hired staff, and created our signature program, Chrysalis After-School, in addition to funding key programs serving girls and women in Polk, Warren, and Dallas Counties in central Iowa.
In our work to engage organizations and individuals concerned for the well-being of girls and women, we created and lead the Women’s Alliance — where we could learn together, share resources, and provide a voice for girls and women throughout Iowa.
Today, Chrysalis partners with the community to provide Iowa women and girls leadership skills, educational and economic opportunities, and a voice within their communities.
Our Mission:Chrysalis invests in the safety, security, education, and economic empowerment of girls and women in our community.
Our Vision:To be the leading organization supporting and sharing the success of girls and women who are independent and contributing members of their community.
Celebrating over 25 Years
Chrysalis is proud to have been involved in ensuring that girls and women continue to have opportunities to grow, learn, contribute, and transform central Iowa since 1989. We are truly inspired by the girls who grow to become smart, strong women, and the women who grow to be empowered and successful members of the community.
